POVERTY SUMMIT PRESENTS THE INTRODUCTORY ANALYSIS OF TERRITORIAL QUESTIONNAIRES
The first conclusions to be drawn from an analysis of territorial questionnaires have been posted in the Resources Section - Questionnaire of the conference.
Questionnaires were completed in territories and analysed by Colonels Earl and Benita Robinson.
Section A deals with some social and economic indicators of poverty, and how Salvation Army membership and personnel compare with these indicators.
The clear indication is that the majority of Salvationists, both officers and soldiers, live on incomes below the median GNP per capita for their country, with officers on the whole being slightly better off than their soldiers. The analysis also reveals that the majority of new members are drawn from people with incomes below the median GNP per capita.
Full results of the questionnaire will be incorporated in the conference report. Further details are available to registered conference delegates on request.
